Fauci, the White House’s chief medical adviser, directly opposed critics who attacked previous statements about the origin of the virus and wearing masks to prevent infection, and in addition to a number of conspiracy theories, several punches. Was fired.
“If you go through all of them, you can quickly explain it and get rid of it,” Forch said. “In other words, every person.”
Fauci has also categorically rejected conspiracy theory about him, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg being pushed by Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee.
Zuckerberg emailed Fauci at the start of the pandemic, inviting him to a Q&A video on the platform, outlining some ideas that the social media giants could work with the U.S. government on the response to Covid. Blackburn argued that an email between the two stated that Fauci was trying to create a story “to only know what they wanted to know about you.”
Fauci recently caught fire following his publication A stack of his emails Obtained by BuzzFeed News and other media via the Information Disclosure Act.
“I don’t mean to be a derogatory term for the US senator, but I don’t know what she’s talking about,” Forch said after hearing the senator’s allegations.
Fauci, the 80-year-old director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, argued that his view of the origin of the coronavirus has not changed. Even though the Labrique pandemic theory has become more mainstream these days.
“Naturally occurring scenarios don’t mean they’re closed to leakage,” Fauci said. “A lot of people, including myself, are even more likely to be of natural origin.” I have the impression that it is, but. “
“I haven’t changed my mind,” Forch said.
“You want to stay open-minded. It’s a possibility. I think this is a very unlikely possibility. The most important thing to see how scientists feel is that it was naturally occurring. It’s very likely, ”Forch said.
He said he was “very favorable” to a more in-depth investigation into the origin of Covid.
Fauci has been the subject of criticism in most Republican circles for many pandemics, including the former president. Donald Trump hinted that if he won re-election he would have fired Fauci.
The publication of his email, which has run over 3,200 pages since the first half of 2020, has created a new wave of attacks from the Conservatives.
Fauci in an interview on Wednesday appeared angered by the torrent of criticism. “Recently everything I’m saying is taken out of context by someone else, not you,” he told NBC Todd.
The point is “just painfully ridiculous,” he said. “I was able to spend the next 30 minutes going through all the points they made.”
He explained why the government’s recommendations for wearing masks have changed over time, and despite other officials sharing his views at the time, he was “picked as a bad guy” on this issue. “.
Initially, Fauci said the mask was considered insufficient, that there was little evidence available that the mask worked outside of the hospital, and that the asymptomatic spread of the virus was completely unknown. Declared.
As these three factors have changed, the directions have also changed, he said. “When that data changes and we get more information, we need to be guided by current science and data, so it’s imperative to change our stance.”
“People want to fire me or put me in jail for what I did, which is to follow science,” he said.
“This is ridiculous, Chuck. It is completely ridiculous.
Asked about the impact of politically pursued attacks on public health authorities over the past year, Fauci said it was “extremely dangerous”.
“Frankly, a lot of what you think of as an attack on me is an attack on science, because everything I’ve consistently talked about from the start is fundamentally science based. “He said.
“Sometimes these things were embarrassing truths for people and there was a backlash against me, so if you’re trying to get close to me as a public health and scientific authority, you’re really just Anthony.” Fauci. I’m attacking you, not science. “” And anyone who sees what’s going on sees it clearly. “
