As the team boss himself now in Extreme E, Nico Rosberg has some regrets about his past criticism of former boss Toto Wolff.
Rosberg joined the Mercedes team in 2010, helping to lay the groundwork alongside Michael Schumacher of what would become the conquering force that Mercedes is today.
Wolff would then arrive on the scene in 2013, and the following year, Mercedes embarked on a race that now has seven consecutive double of driver’s and manufacturer’s titles.
Despite all the success, there were inevitably a few bumps in the road, mainly the rivalry between Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton which had a huge impact on morale within the team, and Wolff’s patience.
That being said, it’s only natural that Rosberg should have criticized Wolff at times.
But now that he’s leading his own team in Extreme E and living on Wolff’s side, Rosberg sees that he probably shouldn’t have made those reviews.
“I like to get involved and support where I can. Of course, I have such extensive experience that I always have to be careful not to interfere too much. There is a fine line, ”he is quoted by Autosport.
“But also, it’s a new challenge for me because I’ve never been on this other side of the road.
“Now I look back and when I used to criticize Toto, now I’m like, Oh, shit, okay, maybe I shouldn’t be criticizing him.
“It’s actually quite difficult to be in this role. Also, in the way you interact with the pilots. It is difficult to understand which is the way to be the most united.
“But at the same time, it’s very interesting.

Three-time rallycross world champion Johan Kristoffersson forms half of Rosberg’s Extreme E driver squad and said he enjoys the experience of working with the 2016 Formula 1 world champion.
“I have to say it’s nice. I like discussing with Nico, bringing up all the ideas, ”he said.
“He also likes to be in the moment of competition. He is accustomed. I think he also likes the position he occupies now and wants to be involved.
“It’s always good to have someone to talk to about different things and so on.”
