Vice President Harris’ visit to Central America receives criticism from all quarters: “She is going to be haunted by this trip”

As the border crisis deepens, Vice President Kamala Harris’ trip to Guatemala and Mexico this week has been widely criticized, not only by Republicans but by many Democrats, including progressives, Hispanic leaders and others.

Joel Payne, a Democratic strategist told The Hill: “She’s going to be haunted by this journey and this problem as long as she’s in politics. The border is a thorny issue and she cannot win in her party and she “I will be the butt of those Republicans’ comments for a long time to come. Issues like immigration are not what anyone would engage in given the obvious political risk.”

Republicans also called Harris about his trip and his attempt to deflect blame.

“This unconventional approach is nothing more than a cynical political move to ensure that the blame does not fall on its shoulders by distancing itself from the Biden border crisis,” said parliamentary minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in a press release.

As CBN News reported, Harris is still angry about where she’s wrong – the US-Mexico border.

Harris met Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Tuesday after a visit to Guatemala on Monday. Its aim was to tackle the wave of borders and the many political problems that go with it.

But at home, Republicans like Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said she went to the wrong place.

“The only problem is that she doesn’t visit the border,” he said. “She’s not even in her home state of California, which has a border with Mexico.”

In an exclusive interview for NBC Nightly News, presenter Lester Holt urged her to ask him, “Are you planning to visit the border?

“At one point, you know, we’re going to the border,” Harris said. “So all this stuff about the border. We went to the border. “

“You didn’t go to the border,” Holt replied.

“And I haven’t been to Europe,” Harris replied. “I don’t understand the point you are making.

Grimace. Kamala Harris doesn’t understand.

Holt: “Are you planning to visit the border?

Harris: “We have been at the border. We have been at the border.”

Holt: “YOU didn’t go to the border.

Harris: “….. and I haven’t been to Europe. I don’t understand what you mean.” pic.twitter.com/fFXMf8X0b6

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) tweeted the awkward video of the interview, writing: “Kamala Harris: ‘I don’t understand the point you are making.’ Fact check: true. “

US Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) also tweeted: “WATCH Kamala Harris jokes she hasn’t been to Europe either when NBC News asked her why she still hasn’t visited the border . It’s a crisis that we’re talking about no vacation. “

Dr Andrew Selee, president of the Migration Policy Institute, told CBN News that the vice president’s lack of a border visit may make political sense, noting that it focuses on the diplomatic side. migration rather than on the border which is managed directly by the Department of Homeland Security.

Still, Selee says Harris may need to get more involved.

“It is not possible to separate one from the other completely and I suspect that the vice president will eventually have to engage more closely in border politics,” he said.

Meanwhile, it also appears that some people in Central America still think President Trump won the election. Fox News reports that during the vice president’s visit to Guatemala on Monday, she was greeted by protesters holding up signs saying Trump won the 2020 presidential election.

“Mind your own business,” said another panel.
