The city of Mobile isn’t the only city in southern Alabama trying to catch up with curbside collection delays.
Prichard asks his residents for patience as the public works department struggles to catch up with the backlog.
In a press release on Friday, the city announced that it wanted to assure residents that their waste and garbage will be picked up. The public works department, according to the city’s new version, continues to secure and deploy the necessary resources to support curbside collections and ensure the safety of department employees. Public Works is experiencing delays in garbage and garbage collection.
According to the city, the pace of the return to normal operations may be slowed due to the challenges the Public Works Department is facing with staff shortages. The city says it is confident that garbage and garbage collection will soon resume its regular schedules.
Residents are asked to call 251-452-7841 for up-to-date information on the collections. Residents are also asked to secure their garbage cans with a closed lid until collection.
Prichard’s delays occur at the same time as there is a delay in garbage collection in Mobile. The city administration on Tuesday blamed the backlog on a delay in delivering new trucks to the city. They also said garbage collections had slowed since Hurricane Zeta hit Alabama in October.
