Former three-time North American WWE NXT Champion Johnny Gargano recently spoke about the criticism he has faced. Although he is improving by an excellent margin, many fans and critics still criticize him.

Johnny Gargano has been extremely famous among WWE fans since the very first day he joined WWE. She’s been an independent sensation for almost 10 years. After leading the Independent Tour for nearly 10 years, he arrived in WWE in 2015.

At first he formed a team with Tommaso Ciampa. Their Tag Team was known as DIY. He won the NXT Tag Team Championship once with Ciampa. He also featured some of the best NXT tag team games with Ciampa.

DIY was disbanded in 2017 after Tommaso Ciampa betrayed his Tag Team partner Johnny Gargano after losing to the Authors of Pain in the main event of NXT Takeover: Chicago. This incident is still considered one of the biggest betrayals in NXT history.

After the disbandment of his Tag Team, Gargano has since organized a singles race and is doing extremely well. In that singles spell, he won the North American NXT Championship three times and the NXT Championship once.

Johnny Gargano recently spoke about the criticism he faced when he appeared as a guest on the Ryan Satins Out Of Character podcast. Even after improving a lot, he still faced a lot of criticism. Here is what he said about it;

I feel like this has been the constant flow of my career, where, especially in NXT, where I started on a tag team with DIY and it became, okay, well Johnnys is just a good tag team guy, then DIY broke up, then me and Tommaso these matches, me and DIY, broke up, then me and Andrade had these matches.

Like, well, he’s just a great guy for singles, but can he tell a story? But then me and Tommaso [Ciampa] had our quarrel but, okay, well he can tell a story but you know, what is his character? And now I’m doing The Way thing, so I feel like every time I’m trying to achieve the goals that people keep moving.

I feel like every time I do something, people move the goalposts. I have to try to reach that goal post now. So I’m waiting to see what the next step will be, but as an artist and as a creative person it challenges me to change things up and try something new and I think in this endeavor, that’s where I’ve been around for a long time, I think that’s where it comes in because the more you change, the more I understand, it’s a TV show.

You don’t want to watch the same character on this show for five years, I 100% understand, especially for me being in NXT for so long, felt like I needed to evolve, I needed to change and what you are seeing on TV right now is the result.
