Port Adelaide’s great Kane Horns tore up St Kilda for his ‘blame’ and ‘apologies’ after another disappointing loss that all but ended his 2021 final hopes.
The Saints held a 36-point lead against a young Adelaide side in the 13th round, before collapsing in the last quarter to lose thanks to a last-minute goal from young Crows Riley Thilthorpe.
Horns showed little sympathy when assessing St Kilda’s fate, urging to review all aspects of the club, namely its “evil” handling of injuries.
“I’m just fed up with the blame and apologies from St Kilda this year,” he told Nine’s Footy Classified.
“We blamed the media, we blamed the referees, we blamed the players for not giving the ball to Brad Hill.

“These are the things we would be looking at right now: The recruiting, their fitness and their injuries (management) were evil and their last quarter was proof against the youngest team in the competition, Adelaide.
“Then you watch football, I can’t remember a year-over-year decline like we’ve seen with St Kilda for a long, long time.”
Horns showed a chart which saw St Kilda have an alarming year-over-year decline in several key stats such as points for, Inside 50 percentage scores and eliminations by goal.
“These are the numbers and they are absolutely staring you in the face,” he said.
“We loved them last year and loved the style of play. Did they do enough preseason with the longer games?
“Have the oppositions determined which small forwards go over the back because in each key category they’ve gone from the top eight, some of the top four, to the bottom four.

“It’s a mess and I think everything should be looked at.”
The great Matthew Lloyd of Essendon also supported the point of Cornes, adding that the manner of the Saints’ losses was more worrying than the results alone.
“I like Brett Ratten’s honesty and his way of speaking, but he has talked a lot about the fact that they haven’t adjusted well to a number of things in 2021 when other teams have it. done, “he told Footy Classified.
“What worries me about St Kilda is how they lose. It was one of the stories from last year, everyone jumped on them to win a final and all that sort of thing. .
“They have losses of 75 points, 86 points, 54 points, 111, and the way the game turned on the weekend, you see things are not going well in St Kilda.”
