The Arizona Attorney General today warned Biden’s Justice Department to withdraw criticism of the State Senate’s audit of the Maricopa County vote in 2020, accusing him of giving in to the hysterical haters of the Liberals of Trump.
My office is not amused by the posture of the DOJ and will not tolerate any effort to undermine or interfere with the audit of our State Senate in order to reassure the people of Arizona that our elections are correct, Attorney General Mark Brnovich wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland.
We are ready to defend federalism and state sovereignty against any partisan attack or federal excess, he added.
Last week, Garland mocked election audits like those in Maricopa County. Many of the justifications put forward in support of these post-election audits and voting restrictions rest on claims of significant voter fraud in the 2020 elections that were refuted by law enforcement and intelligence agencies, a- he declared.
But in the new feud over auditing the loss of former President Trump, Brnovich said it was Garlands’ argument that should be mocked along with a letter from the department’s civil rights division.
Your comments followed a May 5 letter from Pamela Karlan of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division regarding the Arizona Senate’s oversight of the Maricopa County audit. The letter seemed more interested in supporting the hysterical cries of left-wing cable TV pundits, rather than the rule of law, wrote Brnovich, who announced his candidacy for the Senate last week.
In his announcement, Brnovich said that in Washington he would defend the rights of states as he did at home. He hopes to win the GOP primary and face Democratic Senator Mark Kelly.
Wrote Brnovich, Arizona will not allow the Bielen administration to abuse its authority, refuse to enforce laws or attempt to requisition our state’s sovereignty.
