Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid stayed on track Thursday when asked if Le’Veon Bell had slammed him via social media.
“I enjoyed my time with him,” Reid told reporters, according to The Kansas City Star’s Herbie Teope. “I shoot for him. That’s how I ride. I wish him the best.”
Bell, who finished the 2020 campaign with the Chiefs, recently wrote on Instagram that he would rather retire than play for Reid again.
The running back signed with Kansas City midway through the season after the New York Jets unceremoniously released him. The triple Pro Bowler had a surprisingly small role on the Chiefs and received just two runs in three playoff outings.
Bell then expressed regret for making his feelings known for Reid, who is one of the NFL’s most popular coaches, but said he would not take back what he wrote.
The 29-year-old is a free agent. He was one of the most versatile and productive running backs in the NFL when he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2013 to 2017, but his numbers have dropped significantly since missing the 2018 season in due to a contractual dispute.
