Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar met Union Interior Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday for the second time in 48 hours, at a time when Trinamul’s congressional government criticized him for his anti -establishment.

Dhankhar, who criticized Mamata Banerjee’s government for its alleged failure to end post-election violence in the state, said: “In Delhi, I spoke to some people. We cannot compromise on democracy; we cannot compromise on the rule of law and we cannot compromise on the Constitution. I hope everyone will listen to my healthy voice.

“I want everyone to rise up and try to wipe away the tears of the families and people who have to leave their homes, whose loved ones have been killed, injured, whose homes have been the victims of arson and looting. We cannot survive in a democracy if people have to pay extortion fees to run their small businesses, ”Dhankhar said after his second meeting with Shah.

It can be noted that the state government Banerjee and Dhankhar have been at loggerheads on a range of issues. In recent weeks, Dhankhar has raised concerns about alleged incidents of political violence in West Bengal.

The governor sent a report on the violence to the Center shortly after the elections in Bengal. Prior to his visit to Delhi, he had criticized Banerjee for his handling of the violence.

The state government, however, claimed that the post-election violence was “somewhat uninterrupted” when the electoral commission was charged with law and order in Bengal, adding that the cabinet had restored order. once the swearing-in ceremony is over.

Dhankar also met with President Ram Nath Kovind and Union Ministers Prahlad Joshi and Pralhad Singh Patel, in addition to calling top Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

At a press conference, Trinamul’s top leader and MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy said, “There is absolute peace and law and order in the state. Despite this, the one who complains does so with an ulterior motive and he has a political intention. “

“For this reason, he (Dhankhar) has been wandering Delhi for the past five days in order to present a false image of West Bengal and its people. But the people of Bengal will never accept this intentional propaganda to portray the state in a bad light in front of the country, ”he added.

Earlier on Saturday morning, the Calcutta High Court criticized the government led by Mamata Banerjee, saying the state had taken no concrete steps to address complaints about the post-election violence.
