A horrific incident at a men’s basketball game in Southern California this weekend … mostly white school opposition fans and players, tortillas, mostly in Latin hoop teams, after a fierce playoff game when shooting.
Everything fell in the CIF Championship game between Coronado HS and Orange Glen HS on Saturday night… Coronado looked for a three-point victory in a fierce game.
Instead of celebrating in class, reports… some Coronado fans (and apparently a few players) were orange when they stood on the pitch shortly after the devastating 60-57 loss. I started to market traditional Mesoamerican food at Glen Player.
Many people clearly describe the planned attacks as racist.
On Sunday, Coronado’s coach released a statement addressing the “blameworthy” case.
“Swift action is being taken to respond to everyone involved and they are held accountable. We hope to attempt a repair and create an opportunity to interact with the Orange Glen community.
The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), which oversees HS Hoop, also said their organization was facing the horrific situation. “Prohibit discrimination”… and commit to investigating and “determining the appropriate next step”.
The Coronado School District also announced that it will hold an emergency board meeting on Tuesday.
