Aiden Leos murder suspects face new allegations of road rage | New

LOS ANGELES authorities say it is possible that the two suspects indicted in the murder of 6-year-old Aiden Leos were involved in other incidents.

Orange County prosecutors believe that between December 2020 and June 2021, there may have been other incidents of gun branding beyond the one that prosecutors say led to the death of ‘Aiden. The District Attorney’s Office is asking anyone with information about such incidents that may involve Marcus Eriz, 24, and his girlfriend Wynne Lee, 23, to call its hotline at (714) 834-7000 or send an email to [email protected]. It is the latest in a case that has garnered much attention and heartache.

What do we know about another incident? Authorities say days after Aiden was shot, the couple were involved in another road rage incident.

A Tesla driver reported that Marcus Eriz, 24, held a gun at him near Highway 91 in Corona while driving the same white Volkswagen with his girlfriend Wynne Lee, 23, at the wheel.

And the filming of Aidens?

Eriz and Lee were on their way to work in the HOV lane of Hwy 55 around 8 a.m. on May 21 when they approached a Chevrolet Sonic, which Joanna Cloonan was driving to take her son Aiden to kindergarten. , according to court documents. Lee maneuvered his Volkswagen Golf SportWagen into the lane immediately to the right of the HOV lane, then raced back into the HOV lane and cut Cloonan, making a peace sign, according to the documents.

After a few miles, when Cloonan exited the HOV lane to head for Highway 91, she passed the SportWagen and raised her middle finger towards Lee and Eriz, the documents said.

Eriz told police in an interview on June 6 that he reacted angrily after being run over, court documents show. He grabbed his loaded Glock 17 9mm pistol, prepared it, then rolled down the passenger window and shot Cloonan’s car, court documents said. Ms Cloonan’s very minor act of showing him her middle finger resulted in him using deadly force against her and her son, prosecutors in the case said.

The bullet entered Cloonan’s car from the back, hitting his son in the back. She heard the shot of the gun then her sons shout: Ouch. As Cloonan pulled over and hugged the dying boy, Lee continued to drive on Highway 91 toward Highland, where the couple completed a day’s work, court documents show.

Aiden was taken to the Orange County Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:39 a.m.

The boy’s death sparked a wave of community support, with hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to his family and contributed to a reward for finding and arresting the suspects. A plaque in his honor is to be installed at the Orange County Zoo.

What new details have we learned?

Last week, prosecutors offered chilling new details that shed light on the circumstances before and after Aidens’ death.

In the days following the fatal shooting, the couple continued to commute to work in Highland even as banners appeared on the freeway fences next to them, asking: Who shot Aiden Leos?

Prosecutors filed a motion to assert the co-defendants’ bail amounts ahead of a court appearance on Friday. By not asking for any bail for Eriz, prosecutors described him as an extreme danger to the community. He’s shown he can’t control his temper, and he goes to extremes with a snap of a finger when angry, according to the court document.

Superior Court Judge Larry Yellin on Friday ruled not to set any bail for Eriz, a step more severe than the previously set $ 2 million, which Eriz’s attorney, Randall Bethune, said his client did not had no intention of pouring. It seems to me that Mr. Eriz is a total danger to the community, to society, the judge said. There is a high probability of a threat to the public if Mr. Eriz were to go out.
