The Bombay High Court on Tuesday ordered the Mumbai Police Commissioner to investigate a 36-year-old woman’s allegations of stalking and harassment by certain men at the request of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and her ex -husband.
A division bench of judges SS Shinde and NJ Jamadar ordered the police commissioner to submit a report to the court on June 24.
The court heard a petition filed in February this year by the woman, a psychologist by profession, claiming that she was being harassed and harassed by strangers at the behest of Raut, a member of Rajya Sabha, and her ex-husband.
The woman’s lawyer, Abha Singh, told the HC on Tuesday that after the petition was filed, the woman was recently arrested in an unidentifiable case, where it was alleged that she had obtained a fake diploma from doctorate.
“The applicant has been in prison for ten days now. After submitting the request to HC, the whole police apparatus is unleashed on her now. This is complete revenge and an act of bad faith, ”Singh said.
The court said the applicant could file a separate motion to challenge his arrest. “We call on the Police Commissioner to review the grievances raised in the petition and take appropriate action. The police commissioner will respond to us and submit a report on June 24, ”said the judiciary.
The woman in her plea said she filed three complaints in 2013 and 2018, but no action has been taken against the perpetrators so far.
When the petition was heard in March this year, Raut’s lawyer Prasad Dhakephalkar objected and refuted the allegations.
Dhakephalkar then said the petitioner was a friend of the family and like a daughter of the leader of Shiv Sena.
