A burst fire sprinkler line at the Roseburg Country Club was initially responsible for the flooding inside the clubhouse as well as an interruption in sprinkler and electrical services on Saturday night.
While the exact cause of the flooding remains uncertain, firefighters believe high temperatures may have caused an automatic fire extinguisher to burst, according to Bill Truesdail, chairman of the board of the Roseburg Country Club.
Gallons of water poured out of the ceiling, Truesdail said. An office, a men’s restroom and a room with servers and cables were affected by the flooding.
Since Saturday evening, the electricity and sprinkler systems have been down. The course is currently considered a fire hazard with high temperatures and dry conditions. The volunteers planned to stay overnight to keep an eye on the course.
Truesdail said he hoped to have water for the sprinklers and electricity by Sunday. Either way, the golf course will be open at regular hours on Sundays.
