The National Security Agency (NSA) on Tuesday rejected claims by Fox News host Tucker CarlsonTucker CarlsonBill Kristol said he would not be surprised by Michael Flynn’s presidential candidacy. UFO Report | Biden meets with Afghan President | Conservatives are lashing out at Milley MORE that the agency was monitoring her electronic communications and seeking to disclose them in a bid to take her show off the air, calling the allegations false.
Tucker Carlson has never been a target of Agency intelligence and the NSA never intended to try to take its program off the air, the NSA wrote in a statement shared on its Twitter page .
The NSA has a foreign intelligence mission. We target foreign powers to generate information about foreign activities that could harm the United States. With few exceptions (such as in an emergency), the NSA cannot target a U.S. citizen without a court order that explicitly allows targeting, the agency added.

The Fox personality alleged on Monday that the Biden administration was spying on him in an attempt to take the show off the air, saying his show had “confirmed” the claim.
He said the war on terror is now being waged against US citizens, adding that he heard from a US government whistleblower that the NSA was monitoring his communications.
The host added that the alleged individual had “repeated information to us about a story we are working on that could only have come from my texts and emails,” although Carlson did not provide further details or evidence to support this claim.
Carlson, at the start of his show Tuesday, directly responded to the NSA statement released the same evening, calling it furiously dishonest and a whole paragraph of lies. He argued that the NSA statement did not deny that the agency had read his private emails.
Last night on the show, we made a very simple statement: The NSA read my private emails without my permission. Period. This is what we said. Tonight’s NSA statement does not deny this, “he said, instead pointing to the agency noting that the host” was never an agency intelligence target. “
Carlson told his viewers he had asked the NSA in a “very heated conversation” 20 minutes earlier if they were reading his emails, a question he said they refused to answer. .
When contacted for comment, Fox News referred The Hill to Carlsons remarks on air Tuesday night.
The Hill has contacted the NSA for further comment.
