Neil Lennon praised former Celtic CEO Peter Lawwell, who officially stepped down from his 17-year job yesterday. The former Celtic manager, twice nominated to the role by Lawwell, praised his comments as the new month begins with Dom McKay now officially the man in charge.
Peters’ legacy is a time of incredible success for Celtic. The club were also very strong financially, Dominic McKay has a very difficult act to follow and I wish him well, said the former manager of the official changing of the guard at Celtic today.
Peter’s time as CEO should never be forgotten. I believe history will judge it, Lennon told Scottish Sun. The job he has done for Celtic is phenomenal.
It saddened me deeply at the level of criticism Peter suffered last season. He didn’t deserve this. All he ever wanted was the best for Celtic.
Peter felt the same sense of bitter disappointment as any other supporter as the season unfolded. It hurt him, believe me. But he must be seen as a massively influential figure for Celtic in modern times.
Peter Lawwells’ formal resignation as a director of Celtic Plc has been officially registered at Companies House ahead of a London Stock Exchange notification this morning. We wish him a good retirement.
