SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) A teacher at the City of Sacramento Unified School District is under investigation after a recording exposed her using offensive language during class.

Frustrated parents and students say the district is not doing enough.

I know the f word is something you hear all the time. It was a mean and ugly word and now it’s like the word n ****, which everyone says, or n ****, which was also a horrible and ugly word, Katherine Sanders said in a recording.

It is no longer the case, in a way. Wait, wait, how’s that not a horrible word? Where I live, I hear it all the time! Sanders, a Spanish teacher at Kit Carson International Academy, said.

Jaslene Freeman was in the classroom when Sanders said these words to his students about two weeks ago.

It didn’t make sense to any of the students in our class when she said it, Freeman told FOX40. We all looked at each other and didn’t know what to say.

The students said it was not the first time Sanders had used this type of language.

She said it and I felt very hurt because it was used to discriminate and everything, said Noah Rozzo, a former Sanders student.

Community leaders gathered in Kit Carson on Thursday to seek and demand changes.

After letting the community leaders speak for about 30 minutes, SCUSD Superintendent Jorge Aguilar finally addressed the issue, saying he is supportive of the community.

What happened here at Kit Carson will not be tolerated, will not be tolerated, Aguilar said.

What is Critical Race Theory? And why are Republicans so upset about it?

Aguilar said Sanders no longer works with Kit Carson’s students.

But is she fired?

“Again, I’m not going to comment on personnel matters, Mr. Accius,” Aguilar said, speaking to Voice of the Youth founder Berry Accius.

Superintendent Aguilar also said the district was investigating not only this most recent incident, but allegations from previous years as well. There is no timeline for the completion of this investigation.
