OAKLAND, CA Oakland firefighters were kept busy overnight with three structure fires that broke out between midnight and 3 a.m. Monday, including a fire at a marijuana grow room.

The causes of the fires have not yet been determined, but the fireworks have not been ruled out as possible culprits, a firefighter spokesperson said.

Crews responded to the warehouse fire in the 900 block of 77th Avenue shortly after midnight. The building is home to two businesses – a marijuana grow op and an auto body shop, firefighters said. The three-alarm fire was under control at 3:37 a.m.

The second fire was reported shortly after 2 a.m. Monday at a two-story house on East 12th and 23rd Avenues, where firefighters encountered heavy flames coming from the top of the house.

One person at the home was treated for smoke inhalation, Oakland Fire Department spokesman Michael Hunt said. This was the only injury resulting from the three early morning structure fires.

A third fire was reported from the Temescal district around 2:55 a.m., where a commercial building on 42nd Street and Telegraph Avenue caught fire.

The structure had been the scene of previous fires and was marked red in November 2020, firefighters said. The two-alarm fire was under control at 3:22 am
