MANILA, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday bombarded former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV with profanity, saying the latter’s looting charges against him were just redrafted allegations.

He added that he believed the former senator was deluding himself of grandeur by considering running for the presidential election in 2022.

Look at the Trillanes, what they say is still being stolen. That’s what he said in the election, the idiot is repeating it now, Duterte said in a taped meeting with members of his party, PDP-Laban.

(Look at Trillanes, he’s accusing me of looting again. That’s what he said in the election and he’s repeating it now.)

You know Trillanes, I think he did, the devil really has delusions of grandeur Bobo, he added.

(I think Trillanes has delusions of grandeur. He has a really stupid mind.)

Trillanes had previously accused President Duterte and Senator Bong Go of alleged looting involving 6.6 billion pesos in government projects. Much of the proceeds, he said, came from contracts made in the first two years of the Duterte administration.

Duterte further described Trillanes as a coward who would back down when challenged.
