As Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa faces criticism, BJP MPs to meet with high command

Amid continued attacks by some BJP members in Karnataka on Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, its political secretary MP Renukacharya said on Thursday that party MPs would meet with the high command in Delhi and demand their expulsion.

Honnali’s MP also challenged Mr. Yediyurappa’s critics to step down and face the fresh election, as he credited Lingayat’s strongman with the party’s growth and coming to power in the state.

“Is (Mr.) Yediyurappa a ready meal? He built and nurtured this party. To criticize it is to criticize the BJP,” Renukacharya said.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, he said Mr. Yediyurappa was not involved in any corruption or anything.

“We caution, making repeated statements embracing Mr. Yediyurappa is not fair. We, the legislators together, will meet with the high command. Lok Sabha’s session will begin at that time, we will meet with national leaders and ask the expulsion of those who make statements and create confusion, because it damages the image of the party, ”he added.

The monsoon session of Parliament will begin on July 19 and run until August 13.

According to sources, Mr. Renukacharya and some lawmakers had met Mr. Yediyurappa earlier today.

His statement follows recent comments from disgruntled BJP leaders, such as Vijayapura City MPP Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, Tourism Minister CP Yogeshwar and MLC AH Vishwanath, which have embarrassed the party and government, despite warnings from disciplinary action by management.

Calling Mr. Yediyurappa a “great leader”, who built the party and brought it to power, Mr. Renukacharya challenged those who questioned his leadership to step down as MP and then run again in the elections.

“Those who make statements against him (Mr. Yediyurappa) daily, we will publish documents of corruption and scams against them,” he warned.

Mr. Yatnal, who has repeatedly accused Mr. Yediyurappa and members of his family, specifically his son and state vice president of BJP BY Vijayendra, of corruption and interference in the administration, said Tuesday the chief minister of “inactive” and asked him to respectfully step down.

While Yogeshwar had spoken on the issue of changing leadership in the state, without taking any name, linking the CM post to that of the elephant who wears the golden howdah during Mysuru Dasara, who are replaced by from time to time, depending on their abilities.
