Porky Pig raps as Notorious PIG in a new music video for Space Jam: A New Legacy, and the video is garnering a lot of criticism on social media. This month, the sequel will finally premiere in theaters and on HBO Max when it releases on July 16. As with the original film, it will feature Bugs Bunny and his friends teaming up with an NBA legend for a high-stakes basketball game, but with LeBron James taking on the role this time around.
Prior to the film’s release, Warner Bros. released a new clip featuring Porky Pig taking on Don Cheadle for a rap battle. Daffy Duck even calls him the Notorious PIG, an obvious parody of the Notorious BIG, as Porky takes the stage decked out to look like a famous rapper. Though he initially stumbles over his words, Porky – er, the Notorious PIG – sings a heartbreaking Cheadle rap, concluding with his famous tagline “That’s it, guys” as the Pig drops the mic.

Some might see the scene as a fun parody of the hip hop genre, perhaps taking it out on the stuttering pig who does better in a rap battle than most might assume. Others find the scene newsworthy and some fans point to the Notorious PIG as their new reason not to watch the movie. In any case, that’s not exactly the answer the Space Jam 2 team was probably expecting.
“At first I thought Space Jam 2 was going to be a bad blockbuster,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “But now I think… that thing could be BAD. That could be 2021’s answer to Baby Geniuses 2. WB might be sitting on one of those movies that’s forever on the worst of all list. time.”

Another potential viewer tweeted: “I wanted to take my niece to go see Space Jam 2, especially since I could see it as a tribute to a movie that shaped my childhood and love for hoops and MJs, but after watching ‘Notorious PIG’ rap … Boss Baby 2 is it. “

“Porky Pig rap fights Don Cheadle? Yeah… you can all keep Space Jam 2 to yourself,” someone else said.
The rap of Porky Pig against Don Cheadle? Yeah … you can save the jam 2 space to yourself.

Meanwhile, some Space Jamfans are defending the Porky Pig rap battle scene by reminding critics that Bugs Bunny rapped for the original film. As one fan put it, “Bugs Bunny did a rap on the Space Jam soundtrack so it’s nothing new, honestly you are watching this for the goofy send to pop culture, why do people they expect something else. “

Even though Porky’s rap prompts some fans to boycott the film, that’s nothing new for the sequel either. Others have already boycotted its release due to a controversial tweet posted by LeBron James. Before that, many more said they would not be watching the movie after the cartoon Pepe Le Pew’s skunk was removed completely. It was a tumultuous production, to say the least.
Space Jam: A New Legacy hits theaters on July 16. On the same day, it will also be available to stream on HBO Max. You can see what others are saying about Notorious PIG rap on Twitter.

Oh, so the new Space Jam is going to be bad. Good to know! https://t.co/QLBj2zsZu3

I concede that this is, even for Space Jam, pretty bad. Not because ugh, rap but because it was literally a sketch on Robot Chicken 15 years ago https://t.co/fSrDMb5UOEpic.twitter.com/eLQPRzNjtC

Porky pig having a rap battle in the space jam sequel isn’t necessary, @warnerbros that was a mistake for a movie that follows a childhood classic so beloved for most people who think about paying money to see that. I won’t pay any money to watch this garbage.

Jeebus is so bad. In my entire life and with the way my family loves Looney Tunes, I wouldn’t expect them to rap and they shouldn’t rap at all. I can that this new Space Jam is going to be a mess and maybe a box office bomb https://t.co/FdNvIaKmLH

All of you who throw a fit on that stupid Porky Pig rap in Space Jam 2, you never stop and consider that your so precious 1996 movie also had a lot of its terribly scary moments that more than disrespected the Looney Tunes. who are they supposed to be in? pic.twitter.com/zGbzbE3Q59
