Health Fusion: Why are facelifts and nose jobs soaring? Blame Zoom Meetings

[ad_1]

During the COVID-19 lockdown, the number of medical procedures and treatments fell. Except for cosmetic surgery.

An annual survey by the American Association of Facial, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery shows that plastic surgery bookings have jumped 70%.

The number of nose jobs, facelifts, neck and eye facelifts have all increased. They call it the Zoom effect. They say this may have happened because people were working from home and had more time and flexibility to recover. And because people weren’t going anywhere, they weren’t spending money on travel, restaurant meals, or other activities and purchases. So, some may have had a little extra cash in their pockets.

The AAFPRS also mentioned an article in their journal, Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine, on what they call Zoom Dysmorphia. This is when people become hyper aware of their own self-image due to the virtual lifestyle of our society. The study also reported that the number of teen nose jobs has jumped, which is a new trend as people, including young people, want to look better on video conferencing.

The most popular procedures were nose jobs, eye lifts, and face lifts, and some surgeons have seen more surgical reshaping of the outer ear because people disliked the appearance of their ears during the surgery. video conference calls.

I can totally understand all of this. It is not always easy to watch yourself, day after day, on live video.
