Former President Donald Trump believed he contracted COVID-19 last October with former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, according to an upcoming book by journalist Michael Wolff.

Shortly before Trump announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus on October 2, he worked with Christie to prepare for the September 29 presidential debate against Joe Biden.

Trump, a self-proclaimed germaphobe, had “seen the saliva” come out of Christie’s mouth and “tried to dodge the droplets” as they sat across from each other in the debate sessions. training, Wolff wrote in his book, “Landslide: The Last Days of the Trump Presidency.”

Trump later blamed his COVID-19 exposure on Christie, who tested positive around the same time he did and battled the virus for a week in intensive care.

It is not clear exactly how the virus spread to Trump. But he was furious with Christie after a final debate session in which Christie took on the role of Biden and attacked Trump, according to the book.

“You have blood on your hands,” Christie reportedly told Trump. “You are a complete failure. All of these people died from the virus. And it’s your fault.”

Christie, who still plays Biden, also pointed out that Trump criticized Biden’s son Hunter when his own family was “full of problems,” according to the book.

Trump became “clearly agitated” by the training strategy and had “his arms crossed tightly,” Wolff wrote. He said Christie attacked him “like he thought,” according to the book.

Whether or not Christie gave Trump the coronavirus, the former president was “convinced” he had, Wolff wrote.

The couple’s relationship ultimately fell apart. After their battles with COVID-19, Christie went on to criticize Trump’s handling of the pandemic in the country.

Christie told the New York Times last October that he was “wrong” in believing the White House grounds to be a “safe zone” and that he should have worn a mask.
