Congress slammed the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday for incidents of alleged violence and bad behavior against women while filing nominations for bloc panchayat leaders, with party leader Rahul Gandhi saying the violence had been renamed “coup de maître” in the state.

Congress Secretary-General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said the BJP had “crossed” all lines to prevent the nomination of a woman in the polls.

Same government. Same behavior, ”she said in a Hindi tweet and also tagged a video allegedly showing a woman barred from applying in the polls.

In another incident in Lakhimpur Kheri, a candidate for the Samajwadi party was reportedly beaten up by BJP workers, after which six police officers were suspended as the administration ordered a judicial inquiry.
