Rape Allegations Against MLA Bains: Police Claim FIR Delayed Due to Power Cut, SAD Leaders Offer Generator

[ad_1]

Great drama was observed at the 6 Division police station after the woman who brought rape allegations against Lok Insaaf party leader Simarjit Singh Bains and supporters of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) staged a protest and requested that an FIR be registered against the MP for Atam Nagar constituency on Saturday morning.

The 44-year-old complainant refused to leave the police station until the LIP chief was booked in accordance with the July 7 instructions from a local court. Police said, however, that they could not register an FIR because power to the area was cut off. However, the leaders of SAD were not appeased. Former SAD MP Harish Rai Dhanda, a lawyer, who accompanied the complainant, offered to organize a generator for the police station to facilitate the process.

Later, the cops claimed that the computer system had developed a problem, due to which they could not file an FIR. In response, Dhanda and the SAD workers launched slogans against the police.

They alleged that the police did not file an FIR on the orders of Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Dhanda said, “Despite the court’s instructions, the police are dragging their feet slowly in favor of Bains. This amounts to contempt of court.

He alleged that the police officers concerned had gone on leave until Monday to avoid questions. Bains knows the police won’t file an FIR against him. Thus, he moved the high court of Punjab and Haryana to seek the suspension of the orders of the local courts.

The woman said she filed a complaint against Bains six months ago and protested outside the office of Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawals for five months, to no avail. Even after the court ordered the cops to file an FIR, they are still reluctant to do what is necessary, she said.

Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, who was in charge of the police station in the absence of police officer Amandeep Singh Brar, said he received the court orders two days ago. The court ordered police to file a status report until July 15. We will file an FIR as soon as the system resumes, he added.
