FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA / KFTA) People demonstrated at the nightclub and C4 lounge in Fayetteville on Saturday for alleged mismanagement of sexual assault on their premises.

The group said that although the club is touted as a safe space for the LGBTQ + community, the club does not meet this standard.

Meleah Whitehead is an organizer of the protest. She said they wanted to see tangible change happen at the club.

“I would love to see one, more accountability, there has to be more safety so that the drinks are not drugged. No one wants to cover up to go to the club,” Whitehead said. Were ready to fight for the change , were ready to fight.

Jamie Wilson, owner of C4, posted a statement on Facebook.

We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming space for everyone. A space that allows people to express themselves without judgment or ridicule. We do this in a way that meets or exceeds the requirements of 99% of our customers. Unfortunately, we cannot please everyone including people who have never been within our walls. The incident that triggered this situation, we didn’t have a video of a man groping the butt of a man who had done this to a former lover. Because of other charges that have been brought against this individual OUTSIDE our walls. We asked him not to come back. Unfortunately, that’s all we can do. These people feel their voice needs to be heard, and as a group of humans that we are, we say they are heard. They have that right. We will not be present at the March. We wish them good luck and hope they get what they need from the event.
