NC swim coach Jeremy Gregory receives provisional suspension over SafeSport allegation

Former Mecklenburg Swimming Association National Preparation Coach Jeremy Gregory was suspended on July 6 for allegations of misconduct by the US Center for SafeSport.

USA Swimmings’ suspension list confirms the misconduct was a SafeSport violation.

Coach Jeremy was fired with immediate effect, wrote MSA head coach Peter Perers in an email to the team. Unfortunately, certain behaviors left us absolutely no choice in the matter.

Editor’s note: Emphasis was used by Perers.

The behavior was not specified, but Peter mentioned that he implicated a swimmer from the team in the email.

Gregory has competed in five qualifiers for the Mecklenburg Aquatic Team (ATOM) Olympic Trials and was named North Carolina Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2019.

He coached there for five years and was a head coach for his last two years before being fired in February 2020.

Gregory then joined MSA in February 2020 as a senior coach and then national preparation coach.

The MSA hired two senior coaches at the end of June: former SwimMAC head coach Sean Quinn and former LSU head coach Dave Geyer. Quinn was named North Carolina Coach of the Year in 2015.

SwimSwam reached out to Gregory via email on Monday, but he has yet to respond.
