New Delhi: A 50-year-old man was found dead on the tracks on Sunday near Old Faridabad station. While family members claimed the man was taken to Ambedkar Nagar police station where he was beaten to death, cops claimed the man committed suicide after leaving the post of police. The man, Yogesh Gupta, ran a store and resided in Madangir. A complaint was received at Ambedkar Nagar police station from a Neeraj Pahadia alleging that Gupta headed a committee in which he had invested Rs 12.2 lakh. Gupta shut down the committee without informing members and did not returned the amount invested. During the police investigation, Gupta and Pahadia agreed to settle the case amicably. Sunday, Pahadia and Gupta were summoned to the police station. After investigation, Gupta left the police station around 8 p.m. At around 10:30 p.m., Guptas’ son went to the police station saying his father had not returned home. Subsequently, a missing complaint was registered, said DCP (South) Atul Thakur. Photographs of Guptas have been released to find him. Later, GRP Faridabad informed us that Gupta had committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at Old Faridabad station. His family has been notified and an investigation has been opened into the case, the DCP added. Family members of the deceased, however, claimed that he was picked up from his store by cops and taken to the police station where he was beaten to death. They claimed that when they tried to meet him, the police did not allow them access. Alleging police brutality, family members also staged a protest outside the police station on Monday. Gupta is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
