Former England winger Trevor Sinclair believes sour grapes could be the source of Roy Keanes’ criticism of Jack Grealish following the penalty shootout loss to Italy in the final of the ‘Euro 2020.
The Aston Villa talisman was criticized by ITV expert Keane for not taking a penalty, 19-year-old Bukayo Saka missing the decisive shot.
After the game, Keane said: If you’re Sterling or Grealish you can’t sit and watch a child walk in front of you, you can’t.
You can’t sit there and go. I see a 19 year old kid walking in front of me, and I’ve played a lot more games, I have a lot more experience.

“It must be hard to accept, you have to go see this young child and tell him that I am going to intervene before you do.”
Grealish hit back on social media, writing on Twitter: “I said I wanted to take one !!!! The gaffer made so many good decisions during this tournament and he did it tonight! But I won’t let anyone say I didn’t want to take a peno when I said I would “
And specialist Sinclair has jumped on the Grealishs’ defense and believes Keane could still be unhappy with the midfielder for changing his international allegiance from Ireland to England earlier in his career.

He (Grealish) has to defend himself, Sinclair said on talkSPORT this morning.
As we all know, Roy Keane has an opinion. But you can’t just accept that knowing it’s not the truth.
Roy Keanes is not privileged, we are not privileged at talkSPORT to know what was going on in those meetings where we were talking about sanctions.

I believe Jacques. I don’t think it’s a shrinking purple. He is a player who is stepping up to the plate. When you want to make a name for yourself, this is when you take it to the next level.
Unfortunately, I believe Southgate chose Saka, he trusts him and it’s out of Jack’s control.
I think he is in his right to defend himself and I believe him.
I think with Roy Keane, with the fact that Jack Grealish left the Irish squad, went to the England squad, I think there’s a bit of sour grapes there personally.
