BEAVER – A Pole is being held in Mahoning County Jail on charges of raping a Columbiana woman, according to a police report.
Robert Cox, 63, of 1008 East Calla Road, is accused of forcing himself on the woman.
On Tuesday in Mahoning County Court, he pleaded not guilty to his arraignment. Court records show Cox will be back at 11 a.m. on July 16 for a preliminary hearing. Information on the bonds was not available on Tuesday evening.
The police report says Beaver Township Police were called to the address at around 1:34 a.m. Monday where they encountered the victim in her vehicle in the driveway. She told police she had come to the address to meet her friend, Cox. When she said she didn’t know how to get home due to various road closures, Cox offered to stay on her couch.
The report states that when she was on the couch, Cox approached her and began to grab her and force oral sex. She said Cox “threw herself” at her and tried to push him away by hitting and biting him, the report said.
Police entered the house and found Cox inside where he admitted to the rape. “I did it,” the Cox report said.
He told police the woman had come to her home at around 8 p.m. the night before and the two had smoked marijuana and drunk wine. He also told police that he forced himself on the woman.
The report states that Cox was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital where he said, “I’m so sorry. I have ruined the lives of many people by doing what I have done. I never should have done that.
