About a third of IT managers don’t disclose breaches for fear of losing their jobs, according to a new study. A new Keeper Security survey polled 1,000 UK IT decision makers, finding that although 92% reported experiencing a breach in the past year, only 36% reported the incident. The professionals interviewed were employees of companies with 100 to 5,000 employees. The report also found that more than three-quarters of professionals did not feel prepared to deal with growing cybersecurity threats to their organizations.

Keeper Security also explained that the fallout from successful attacks is also growing, costing one in 10 businesses more than $ 1 million. Additionally, 92% of those polled said they were aware of deficiencies in their defenses, however, less than half address them. An astonishing 32% of those surveyed also admitted to using weak credentials to protect sensitive data. The survey results provide an insight into the context of the current IT environment in the UK, in which cybersecurity is sidelined, despite the severity and consequences of increasingly serious attacks.
