CLARK COUNTY A Louisville man faces multiple crimes after police say he sexually abused a child under the age of 14.
John Philpott, 31, is charged with three level 1 crimes for pedophilia, one level 4 felony for pedophilia and one level 5 felony for felony for allegations of May 2018. He was arrested on Sunday and appeared for a first hearing Monday in which a not guilty plea was entered and the bond was set at $ 100,000 in cash alone.
Court records show police began investigating when in March the child revealed that she had been raped by Philpott in the summer of 2018, while on summer vacation. Further investigation brought to light allegations of several other incidents.
At the alleged first instance, she said she was uncomfortable but was afraid of hurting herself. In another alleged case, the child said she was playing hide and seek with Philpott when he took her to a bedroom, pushed a dresser outside the door and sexually assaulted her.
Pre-trial conferences are scheduled for August 11 and September 8, with a jury trial scheduled for December 14 at 9 a.m. at Clark County Circuit Court No. 4.
