Los Gatos man charged after discovery of illegal weapons, drugs and racist manifesto in his car, police say

CAMPBELL, Calif .– A 32-year-old Los Gatos man has been arrested and charged with multiple felons after police in Campbell last week found him lurking outside a business and then found a reserve d weapons and a racist manifesto in his vehicle, Santa Clara County prosecutors said Thursday.

Wesley Charles Martines was arraigned Tuesday on charges, which include possession of assault weapons, silencers, drugs and homemade bomb parts, according to the district attorney’s office.

Martines was arrested after the owner of a business called Campbell Police last Friday shortly after midnight to report he could see a man on his security camera looking into cars and a storage shed in the area of East Sunnyoaks Avenue, prosecutors said.

Officers responded and stopped a truck Martines was driving and found two AR-style rifles inside along with a Glock 9mm handgun and ammunition that bore inscriptions such as “Cop Killer,” “At a Grim Reaper’s Widow ”and“ A Good Start ”, as well as bulletproof vests, heroin and methamphetamine.

Prosecutors said a homemade bomb filled with lead but no explosive material was also found, as well as a newspaper with racist and anti-Semitic material and a plan to visit a sporting goods store , dress up as an employee and tie up everyone inside.

When he appeared on Tuesday, a judge ordered his detention on $ 300,000 bail.

“Law enforcement once again saved lives before blood and tears flowed,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a press release. “We all have a role to play in stopping future mass shootings, suicides or domestic violence killings. Please call law enforcement if you know someone is armed and dangerous.”
