Frank Warren told talkSPORT he doesn’t pay much attention to the backlash after the postponement of Tyson Fury’s trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

The heavyweights were scheduled to meet in Las Vegas on July 24, but Fury has tested positive for the coronavirus and must now wait until October 9 live on talkSPORT.

In May, most believed Fury was heading for a clash with British rival Anthony Joshua.

Then Wilder won his arbitration record to force Fury into a third fight with him and the undisputed showdown collapsed – a major disappointment for British boxing.

The Furys team quickly put together the Wilder trilogy, but this latest delay caused a reaction from some fans.

Asked about it on talkSPORT Fight Night, Warren replied, “Well that’s ridiculous, what reaction can you have on this?

“A judge ordered the fight and he has COVID. What is he supposed to do?

“He wouldn’t be allowed to fight even if he wanted to – he wants to!”

“Everyone is frustrated and the fighters are even more frustrated.

“All that backlash like you say, ‘troll’, whatever it is, it’s ridiculous, it’s stupid.”

Rival promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested Fury vs Wilder 3 has more issues than COVID.

He told the DAZN Boxing Show: “They haven’t sold any tickets.

“Basically you can go online and check it out. I don’t know if 25% or 30% of the tickets were sold, but it’s disastrous.

“There was no hype. This was going to make pay-per-view numbers very, very bad.

“It all stank, it’s so disjointed all over, you’ve got about eight people working on the fight who don’t like each other.”

Warren rejected Hearn’s comments

Warren replied, “I see Eddie Hearn made a few comments on this,” the tickets didn’t sell. “

“They had made 14 million tickets until the postponement.

“It’s just rubbish.”
