The Turkish Embassy in the Netherlands profiled Turkish citizens opposing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan and sent their private information to Ankara, Nordic Monitor reported.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs then shared this information with the judicial authorities, which led to falsified terrorist investigations on these people without any concrete evidence.

According to a decision of 18 December 2018 by prosecutor Adem Aknc, the Ankara General Prosecutor’s Office opened a separate investigation (case No. 2018/43629) on 10 Turkish nationals who appeared in spy files.

Court documents expose how the Turkish Embassy in the Netherlands triggered criminal investigations in Turkey. (The names and addresses of Turkish nationals have been redacted for security reasons.):

The profiling files were transmitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Turkish ambassadors in The Hague, Sadk Arslan (2013-2017) and aban Dili (2017-present).

Ambassador Dili is a former member of the ruling Erdoan party. He had previously been embroiled in a corruption scandal in 2008 and was not nominated again for parliament. He resigned from the party in 2017 after his brother, Major General Mehmet Dili, was accused of playing a key role in a failed coup in 2016. Erdoan’s surprise appointment of the ambassador of Dilias drew sharp criticism from the opposition because family members who were targets of a post-coup witch hunt were illegally imprisoned, but Major-General Dilis’ brother has in fact was rewarded and received an ambassadorial post. By the way, relatives of Erdoan and former Prime Minister Binali Yldrm have a significant investment in the Netherlands. By appointing a family friend and former banker as ambassador, Erdoan obviously prefers someone he knows and whom he can trust to defend his interests there.

Critics of the Erdoan government abroad, especially members of the Hizmet / Glen movement, have been subjected to surveillance, harassment, death threats and kidnappings since President Erdoan decided to make the group the group’s leader. scapegoat for his own legal problems. They have often been denied consular services such as power of attorney and birth registration, as well as the revocation of their passports. Their assets in Turkey are seized and family members at home face criminal prosecution.

Educator and founder of the Sapat school network in Kyrgyzstan Orhan nand, who was on the profiling lists published by Nordic Monitor, disappeared after leaving his home in Bishkekon on May 31. On Monday, Erdoan, who previously denied knowing anything about him, announced his capture by the Turkish secret service.

As previously reported by Nordic Monitor, the Foreign Ministry sent lists of profiled Turkish nationals on two CDs to the Ankara Attorney General’s Office, the National Police and the Turkish intelligence agency MIT on February 19, 2018 via an official document for other administrative or judicial actions, the punishment of their relatives on return to Turkey and the seizure of their property.

Public Prosecutor Aknc, who received the document from the Foreign Ministry on February 23, 2018, forwarded the classified CDs containing information on 4,386 criticisms of Erdoan to the Organized Crime Unit of the Police Department of Ankara for further action. The police forwarded the results of their investigations to the public prosecutor.

Aknc, who investigated the assassination of Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov in December 2016, was accused of suppressing evidence the killer had links to various jihadist groups including al-Qaeda and was radicalized by several pro-government imams, including two who worked for the government religious authority, the Diyanet. Nordic Monitor previously reported that several suspects told the court that Aknc forced them to testify during questioning that the assassination was led by the Glen movement. They were then jailed after refusing the prosecutor’s request to testify in court.
