The Bosnian foreign minister called on the Serbian president to distance himself from the controversial remarks recently made by the Serbian interior minister calling for the unification of the Serbian world.
The task of this generation of politicians is to form a Serbian world, that is to say to unite Serbs wherever they live, Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Sunday. ‘a meeting marking the anniversary of the Socialist Movement.
In order for the Serbian world to form, Serbia must be economically prosperous, well governed and have an army capable of protecting Serbia and Serbs wherever they live, said Vulin.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was also present at the meeting.
Later Sunday evening, Vulin reiterated on Serbian television channel Pink TV that he believed all Serbs should be united under one state, Serbian news site Danas reported. To create political unity, all Serbs must unite and respect Belgrade’s decisions, he said.
Many locals found his statements alarming, as the Serbs’ previous attempts to unify have resulted in wars and conflicts.
Responding to Monday’s controversial remarks, Bosnian Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic called on Vucic to reprimand Vulin.
President @avucic must strongly reprimand his minister Vulin, for his recent statements. Failure to do so confirms Serbia’s support for the policy of destroying the Dayton Peace Accords, a worrying threat to those who suffered aggression and genocide 26 years ago!

Failure to do so only confirms that the official policy of the Serbian state is to destroy the Dayton peace agreement with the aim of annexing parts of Bosnia to Serbia, Turkovic wrote on Twitter.
[Its] a worrying threat to Bosnia and Herzegovina which suffered aggression and genocide 26 years ago!
From 1992 to 1995, Serbian forces as well as Serbian paramilitary units, with financial and political support from Serbia proper, carried out an ethnic cleansing campaign in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of forming a Greater Serbia.
The attacks culminated in the genocide against Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica in July 1995, as ruled by international courts.
The Dayton Peace Accords signed in December 1995 officially ended the war, but they divided Bosnia into two entities: the Bosnian-Croat Federation and the Serbian-ruled Republika Srpska.
A Serb majority now lives in the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska. The eastern part of Republika Srpska borders Serbia.
This rhetoric makes statements by the Serbian president who claims that Serbia wants peace and good neighborly relations with Bosnia, without any meaning, Turkovic said.
During the meeting, Vulin also said that it is important to support Vucic in the upcoming elections to protect this kind of Serbia, because no one else should become president of all citizens of Serbia and all Serbs.
Many politicians condemned the words of Vulins, including Vojislav Jankovic, member of the main council of the Democratic Party of Serbia.
The policy of the “Serbian world” follows on from the disastrous policy of the 1990s. This policy has led to the destruction of the state, of society and of countless family tragedies. The abuse of national sentiments for pre-election purposes is a shameful policy of the mother of this reimahttps: //t.co/ntobPg4oq5

The politics of the Serbian world are a continuation of the disastrous politics of the 1990s. This politics has led to the destruction of the state, society and countless family tragedies, Jankovic wrote on Twitter.
The abuse of national sentiments for pre-election purposes is a shameful political basis for this regime.
Predrag Boskovic, MP from neighboring Montenegro, wrote on Twitter: Unfortunately, [Serbias] neighbors have felt the consequences of this kind of policy in the most brutal way through enormous loss of life, material destruction and with an economy lagging behind modern civilization.
Whenever she had this kind of politics, she was smaller, poorer and more isolated. Unfortunately, the consequences of such a policy have been felt most brutally by all of its neighbors through enormous loss of life, material destruction and the economic backwardness of modern civilization. pic.twitter.com/i6MazL7POf

Citing Vulins’ comments on strengthening the army, Ivan Vukovic, mayor of Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, said on Twitter: The Serbian police minister is openly threatening.
Reaction? Vukovic asked, while tagging the official Twitter account of the Government of Montenegro.
Bosnian political scientist Jasmin Mujanovic called Vulins’ call for a Serbian world a reboot of the ideology of former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevics in Greater Serbia.
Irredentism is now Serbia’s official foreign policy, Mujanovic said on Twitter.
The incendiary Serbian Interior Minister reiterates once again that Belgrade’s generational goal is the unification of all Serbs. That is, restart Milosevics Greater Serbia as a Serbian world. Irredentism is now the official foreign policy of Serbia. https://t.co/hY5RBE9Zci

Later Monday, the Bosnian website Klix reported that Vulin responded to Turkovic, saying Serbia will unite peacefully when conditions permit, comparing it to the unification of Germany.
He called on Turkovic to distance himself from the statements of two Bosnian politicians from the same party, saying they would recognize the state of Kosovo.
