Angel Postecoglou takes Celtic blame but he warns Midtyjylland his team is only getting better

Ange Postecoglou refused to point fingers at the Celtic guys Euro fall as the boss insisted he is to blame for the Hoops’ cold against Midtyjylland.

We will be better prepared, no doubt, in a week

In fact, I don’t think we’ll ever be as ill-prepared as tonight and it’s up to me to get into such an important game. We still have eight days, I am confident that the preparation and the state of mind that we have will allow us to achieve a good performance.

Postecoglou admitted 24 hours earlier that the club had hesitated in the transfer market, but last night he insisted he take responsibility for the delay in landing new signings.

Postecoglou said: I’m getting a lot of half-empty questions right now. I think there were a lot of positives tonight rather than people looking for little things that were not right.

I thought it was a decent strike, we limited them to a few shots on goal with a brand new back four. The midfielder worked his socks. The number of races performed by Ismaila Soro, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie was incredible.

There is nothing that disappointed me tonight. I’m frustrated with the result because the players didn’t get the result I thought they deserved. I guess it was a missed opportunity on the weight of the performance.

I thought we were creating more chances and limiting them to a few shots on goal. We played good football and played a big part of the game with 10 men and two very young center-backs.

There was frustration with the result but not with the performance and that resulted in a huge change.
