Clarkstown Democrats accuse supervisor of costing city $ 1million

Clarkstown Democrats are targeting Supervisor George Hoehmann, blaming him for costing the city $ 1 million.

Jeffrey Greenburg is running against Hoehmann for the post of city supervisor in November.

At a press conference on Tuesday, the Democrat attacked Hoehmann over his recent loss in a federal lawsuit by a former Clarkstown police sergeant.

Stephen Cole-Hatchard won a million dollar lawsuit against the city and its supervisor, accusing them of retaliation and being forced to resign for considering contributions to Hoehmann’s political campaign.

Court documents alleged that Hoehmann spied on police officers, city workers and private citizens while placing his own ambition and personal protections above the best interests of the citizens.

The city of Clarkstown told News 12: “Following the jury’s verdict, the city’s insurer reached a settlement with Cole-Hatchard rather than appeal. Although the city vigorously denies the complainant’s allegations, this by-law resolved the dispute between the complainant and the City. The insurance settlement was conditional on the absence of an admission of fault by one or the other of the parties.
