CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Michigan A The Lanse Creuse Public School Board has voted to censor fellow Shane Sellers after allegations of misconduct.
The 19-year-old, who is the youngest member of the Macomb County board of directors, denies the allegations.
I know that being one of the youngest civil servants in government is something I don’t take for granted. I think it’s a unique perspective, Sellers said.
He was elected to the Anse Creuse school board last year – a surprise victory and a path that has not been easy so far.

In a 5-2 vote on July 13, the board voted to censor Sellers for various allegations of misconduct. He’s been simmering for four months.
It originally started with an unproven claim that I was dating a college girl, who turned out to be my sister. They then transferred that to me by demanding a seat with my sister in a play at school and violating COVID protocols. When I proved it wrong again, they added the closed door, he said.
Some of the misconduct that the majority of board members allege include entering a women’s basketball locker room; however, the coach said that was not true.
Sellers was also accused of using his badge to enter Lycée LAnse Creuse – Nord on a weekend to use the toilets, triggering a police intervention. He admits he did and apologized, offering to pay all costs incurred by the district. However, he was not presented with a bill.
I was elected because I had my own opinions which were different from theirs. I think it’s something that I try to enjoy and some of them don’t. I think they wanted me to go with the flow and it’s just not going to go, he said.

The council is also censoring him for discussing issues behind closed doors. He said the closed-door sessions were about him and nothing should be closed. He wants the test to be broadcast publicly.
