The National Gaming Authority (ANJ), the French gaming regulatory authority, has announced its intention to continuously monitor gaming activity in the country after the UEFA Euro 2020 publicity crackdown.
The body announced the action plan when it released a report detailing its first year as the leading gambling regulator in France. He officially took on this role in June of last year.
The plan consists of five projects, which were announced on July 21, and are based on the ANJ’s pledge to tackle gambling advertising abuses committed during the Euro.
As a result, ANJ plans to focus heavily on advertising. The regulator warned operators to reduce the volume of euro gambling ads after determining that they were in excess and that young people were being disproportionately targeted.

In addition, at the start of the school year, it will launch a stakeholder consultation on advertising, which could lead to the launch of new intervention tools. The ANJ will also publish more specific and operational guidelines on advertising before the end of the year.
ANJ also promised to clarify the definitions, aiming to find out what constitutes reasonable gambling bonuses and hosting a seminar to determine a precise definition of excessive gambling.
In June, the ANJ entered into a three-year agreement with the French drug addiction group OFDT to expand its understanding of addictive gambling behaviors.
In addition to these plans, the ANJ stressed the need to address complaints that operators are limiting player bets and, as announced ahead of the Euro, will fight the rise of tipster sites with legal force.
ANJ had previously expressed concerns about player protection measures by suggesting improvements to the practice to several licensees in April,
