Some Russians will have raised a glass of vodka overnight to the powerful leader who knows how to pose for a photo like no one else – Vladimir Putin.

News.com.au may not be 100 percent sure, but it looks like the picture has been photographed – no doubt President Putin could have manipulated himself with his bare guts if the bear turned him.
“It inspires movies, books, poems, news, even myths and legends!” reads the incredible caption of the image on social media.
“One of the most popular world leaders, the President of Russia in 2000-2008 and since 2012 – Vladimir #Putin is celebrating his birthday today! #KeepCalm # Putin69 “
The image is the latest in a series of hilarious photos of the Russian leader over the years trying to portray him as the world’s toughest friend.
Here are some of the best propaganda images of the great man.
The bleak side of Putin’s birthday
All jokes aside, President Putin’s birthday also marks a bleak moment in Russian history.
Just as they were celebrating their leader’s birthday overnight, Russians were celebrating the murder of investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya 15 years ago, with her newspaper warning that time was running out to punish the killers’ brains.
Ms. Politkovskaya, a fierce critic of Putin and the Kremlin wars in Chechnya, was shot dead on October 7, 2006, at the entrance to her apartment building in central Moscow. 48 was 48 years old.
The fall of Putin’s birthday marks the assassination of a leading investigative journalist – who worked for Russia’s leading independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta and contributed to Western publications, including The guardian – sent shock waves around the world.
But after 15 years, investigators have not yet said who was behind the apparent contract murder.
“Neither I nor Novaya Gazeta have the final understanding of who ordered it,” Ilya Politkovsky, 42, told AFP on Thursday.
The editors of Novaya Gazeta say that the authorities have no real interest in continuing the investigation further for political reasons, and on Thursday the statute of limitations for the crime expired.
