HOPE (NEWS 1130) – A section of the Trans-Canada Highway crossing the Fraser Canyon reopened Wednesday afternoon.
DriveBC advises motorists to “watch loose gravel and slow speeds”. The 35-kilometer stretch between Hope and Spences Bridge was closed in back and forth Monday night.
One of the trucks stuck at # BChwy1 mudslide, 13 km north of #Lytton. No injuries.
Crews work to remove the truck safely, ensuring that no contaminants enter the Thompson River.

British Columbia officials are still advising residents of the province to avoid traveling to areas affected by wildfires in order to keep roads clear and ensure space for potential evacuees. The mudslide coincided with the first heavy rainfall in weeks, which was welcomed by teams battling the wildfires during an extremely hot and dry summer.
