Their backs were against the wall from day one, but after two serious losses at the hands of Team Aster, Thunder Predator is the first team eliminated from Dota 2 The International 10 with a 0-7 record on the third day.
TP was one of the best in South America Dota 2 teams all year round, but it looked like the Peruvian team was losing momentum as the 2021 dota Pro Circuit has dragged its feet.
They went from surprising everyone with a fifth place finish at ONE Esports Singapore Major and beating Alliance, PSG.LGD and Team Liquid, missing the second Major and recording poor results ahead of TI10. TP qualified directly for TI thanks to his early placements in the major and regional leagues which gave him enough DPC points. At the end of the regular season, however, there were serious question marks surrounding the team.
As soon as TP started playing from their training hall in Bucharest, it became clear that they were outclassed in some games, losing their first series 0-2 to OG. But the struggles continued, with Alliance resuming a close game one win, then crushing TP’s hopes in Game 2, dropping them to 0-2 overall.
Those early losses worsened on day two as Invictus Gaming routed TP 2-0. Even Undying, a team seen in the same vein as TP making their way to TI10 as the Americas’ smaller team, managed to sweep them aside, and it didn’t really feel like a contest in Game 2.
Matchday three was TP’s last chance to make a comeback, having three games to play and an opportunity to overtake Alliance in the standings if the situation deteriorates in a good way. However, Virtus.pro and Evil Geniuses questioned those hopes, followed by Team Aster crushing them completely.
By the end of Matchday 3’s games, TP had dropped to 0-3, bringing their overall record to 0-7 or 0-14 overall. Statistically, they are now the first team eliminated from TI10, with only one streak remaining against T1 before their competition ends.
“Tomorrow it’s up to us, the expelled, to play another series against T1 and we’ll be there watching our boys compete because they need us right now,” the statement read. of TP. “We hope you can be with us as well, providing the support they need, us and all who have helped on this long journey.”
Even though the team showed flashes at the start of the season and during some matches on by Dota Biggest stage, TP will return home in 17th place, taking home $ 100,000 of the $ 40 million prize pool.
