“The information I have is that 3 people came and left a package in Kaveera which then exploded, killing 1 person and injuring 5 others,” the president tweeted.
“It appears to be a terrorist act,” he added, saying “we will find the perpetrators”.
The explosion happened on Saturday.
Police are investigating the incident, President Museveni said, adding that “the public should not fear, we will defeat this crime.”
The UK and France warned last week of an increased terrorist threat in Uganda.
Britain informed travelers that “terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Uganda” and that “attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners”.
