ATGLEN – International Paper plans to build a state-of-the-art corrugated cardboard packaging plant in Atglen, Chester County next year, which will create around 150 new jobs in the region.

“The Atglen plant will be the first box plant that International Paper has built in the United States in over 30 years,” said Hennessey. “It’s great to see this expansion of manufacturing in our region and I hope more will follow. “

To further help International Paper settle here, the Wolf administration on Thursday approved a $ 371,000 rail freight grant to build approximately 500 feet of new track to the factory and rehabilitate 1,200 feet of track. existing near the site.

According to company officials, construction of the Atglen plant is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2022 and is expected to be fully operational in the first quarter of 2023.
