The nonprofit Discovery Consortium was formed in Japan in an attempt to increase the rate of HAE diagnosis to levels seen in North America and Europe. At present, we estimate that only 20% of all Japanese patients have been diagnosed.
The majority of the funding for the project comes from pharmaceutical companies, with equal funding from Takeda, CSL and Torii who represent BioCryst in Japan. I am a member of the board of directors with the best doctors in the field.
