Xi Jinping Welcomes Lula’s Inauguration as Brazilian President

In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping pointed out that both China and Pakistan are developing countries with extensive influence and important emerging market countries.

He mentioned the common interests and shared responsibilities as strategic partners, as well as the smooth dynamics of the relationship between the two countries over the past 48 years.

Likewise, he advocated for the continuation of this trend under Lula’s mandate and suggested expanding cooperation for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.

Xi joined other dignitaries and international leaders in congratulating the Brazilian leader after officially taking power on January 1.

Lula, 77, who ruled for the Workers’ Party from 2003 to 2010, defeated his predecessor Jair Bolsonaro, who was seeking re-election for the Liberal Party, in a runoff election last October.
