A stalker who scared actress Claire Foy has been given a suspended sentence and will be repatriated to the United States.
Jason Penrose, 49, was sentenced on Friday to one year and 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, at the Old Bailey.
In November, he pleaded guilty to harassing Foy, who played young Queen Elizabeth in the first two series of hit Netflix show The Crown, from August 2021 to February 2022.
He also admitted two charges of violating an interim stalking restraining order by sending a letter and package to the Golden Globe winner.
Penrose received a harassment protection order in July after sending the actor, 38, thousands of emails and showing up on his doorstep.
On Friday, Judge David Aaronberg KC said he was still troubled that Penrose might continue to be smitten with Ms Foy, despite being told repeatedly that she wanted no contact from him.
The conditions of his suspended sentence include that he must remain in the custody of a psychiatrist in the UK until he is repatriated and that he must cooperate fully upon his return to the United States. The court heard he would return to Florida to live with his mother and receive additional psychiatric care.
If he returns to the UK during his suspended sentence, he must notify the Metropolitan Police of his arrival, telling them where he intends to stay and for how long.

Aaronberg also imposed a restraining order prohibiting Penrose from contacting or attempting to contact Foy directly or indirectly, and from sending him any letters, gifts, packages or packages. Penrose is also banned from entering the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington except to collect his US passport.
He is prohibited from approaching within 100 yards of any premises in which he knows or has reason to believe that Foy might be present.
Penrose was bearded, wore an open-necked white shirt and a dark jacket to court.
The judge said Foy had been scared and suspicious of the message she didn’t recognize and the ringing of her front door since she had been harassed. He added: She told the police she was afraid to leave her property in case you could follow her.
Quoting a statement from the actor, he said: I feel like the freedoms I enjoyed before Mr Penrose contacted me are now gone. I see the world in a much scarier way.
The court heard Home Office records showed Penrose applied for permission to enter the UK in October 2021 but was refused entry. The judge said there was no record of his legal entry into the UK and he faced deportation if he did not voluntarily agree to return to the US.
After the sentencing, Varinder Hayre, District Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, said: Harassment is a devastating crime that can ruin the lives of victims. Victims often feel like their lives have been taken over, which can leave a huge mark that long survives the offense. No one should feel in danger in their home or in their life.
We take cases of harassment very seriously and will always strive to prosecute this type of offense wherever the legal test is met.
