The consensus reached at the meeting last month has injected new impetus into promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

The friendship between Cambodia and China is solid, and Cambodia is willing to cooperate closely with China to promote the framework of diamond cooperation between the two countries, deepen the construction of a community of shared future between Cambodia and China, safeguard the common interests of the two countries and their peoples, and maintain stability. , peace and development, he added.

During Mr Hun Sen’s visit to Beijing in February, the two countries agreed to develop a diamond cooperation framework, focusing on different areas, including political dialogue, production capacity, agricultural production, energy and security.

Kin Phea, director-general of the Royal Cambodian Institute of International Relations, said yesterday that Xi Jinping’s re-election as Chinese president will further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in all sectors.

I think the close relationship between Cambodia and China is partly based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, independence and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs. Therefore, our mutual relationship is not determined by the West, and it is not correct to think that Cambodia leans toward communism while forgetting about the Western world, he said.

Cambodia has always aspired to forge deep and comprehensive relations with all countries, including Western countries and our Eastern neighbors. He added that what Cambodia wants most is respect for its national sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and non-interference in our country’s internal affairs.
