Lula: “I will invite Xi Jinping to visit Brazil”

President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva (PT) said on Monday (10th) that he would invite Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Brazil. Petista is scheduled to travel to China this week to complete his official agenda.

Lula also stressed the need for a partnership between China and Latin America, adding that relations with China had been “buffered” by the establishment of the last two federal governments. China is also part of the BRICS countries.

“China is an important partner for Brazil and Latin America. We want to strengthen that relationship. Brazil’s relationship has scorched because of the coup after we left the presidency,” he said.

“The last president didn’t know anything about foreign policy, he didn’t like doing it. I wanted to do a strong foreign policy because Brazil needs to be an international protagonist again,” he added.
