Millions are looking for solutions this World Environment Day

This impetus for global action is clear in the World environment day card, which showcases innovative, community-based solutions to reduce plastic pollution. Hundreds of activities have been recorded. From beach cleanups in Mumbai to cloth bag sewing workshops in Ghana and plastic waste-free live concerts in Atlanta.

In New York, a art project entirely made of plastic waste will be launched at the World Trade Center. In India, famous movie stars and musicians came together to create a Musical clip and share posts to inspire more people to take action against plastic pollution. In Kazakhstan, the local music group Great Steppe released a Musical clip to mark the Day and highlight the environmental damage suffered by the Aral Sea.

These events, which take place in community centers, schools, businesses and homes, illustrate how individuals and communities are important drivers of environmental action.

Experts hope the momentum from these events can inspire governments, cities, financial institutions and industries to use their power to invest and implement large-scale solutions to overcome and reverse the plastic pollution crisis.
